I have confirmed exposure to COVID-19. When should I get tested? We recommend following the CDC's guidelines for isolation/symptom-monitoring, quarantine, and testing after exposure to COVID-19. With all COVID-19 testing, it can take several days (usually about 3-5) before viral loads are detectable in your body after you are infected by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19 virus). PCR testing is the most sensitive test type for detecting trace amounts of viral RNA early in an infection cycle (starting around 2-3 days after exposure). Rapid antigen testing identifies viral proteins from your nasal swab sample, and requires higher viral loads to detect positive infections. This means that a rapid antigen test can potentially miss detecting positive infections early or late in a patient infection cycle, when viral loads may be low. This is especially common with asymptomatic infections in vaccinated people. Performing serial testing with rapid antigen tests (testing every day or every other day) is highly recommended in order to detect a positive infection that may have been missed on the previous day of testing.

With one gentle, lower nasal swab, you can now identify and stop outbreaks of these three viruses at work, care facilities, and before events, as quickly and conveniently as possible. I have less than 10 people in my group. Where should I get tested?GoLab requires a minimum of 10 tests per mobile lab booking. We test private and workplace groups. Some of our clients prefer to pay the 10-test minimum for the convenience of mobile testing with guaranteed result turnaround times, even if they need less than 10 people to be tested. That may not be your most cost-effective option, depending on how many people in your group need testing. (See GoLab's rates here.) We recommend the following resources and clinics for individual COVID-19 testing in greater Seattle: WA Department of Health Testing Locations across Washington State King County COVID-19 Testing Locations

What's the difference between PCR and rapid antigen COVID-19 testing?PCR testing is the gold standard for COVID-19 testing with 99.99% accuracy. It is accepted for travel entry by most destinations around the world. GoLab collects gentle lower nasal swabs from your group and we process your PCR tests at our Seattle-based lab. We guarantee the fastest turnaround times of any mobile lab in the region, with results emailed to you before 11pm as long as we test your group before 12pm that morning. Rapid antigen testing is less sensitive than PCR (about 84% sensitivity to detect positive COVID-19 infections), but delivers real-time, reliable results in just 15 minutes after testing. It is also a lower cost per test than PCR testing. All the tests GoLab uses are FDA-EUA authorized and sensitive to detect known COVID-19 mutation variants. Many of our patients submit their lab reports and payment receipts to their insurance providers for reimbursement. We recommend that you contact your insurance provider to confirm their process for reimbursement for your GoLab testing.

Do you test children?Yes. Parents or guardians can complete an online intake form for their child, and we ask that parents remain in the testing area while their children are tested. To help prepare children for their testing experience, we recommend talking with them in advance about why they are being tested and what to expect with testing. Explain that our staff will be wearing masks and face shields to keep people safe, and that all our nurses are friendly and kind. You can also share with children that our nurses will rub the inside of their nose with a cotton swab and that it may tickle a bit, but it won't hurt them. Please note that we are only able to test children if they are able to remain seated and still for the duration of swab collection. We want to ensure that your child is safe and comfortable.

The tests we use require anterior nasal swab samples, which means that the swab is inserted less than one inch into your nostril. Our GoLab registered nurses are highly experienced and deliver a comfortable testing experience for you from start to finish.
